Reaction from Saad Baig: Pakistan U19 Captain’s Thoughts on Australia Loss

Pakistan U19 captain Saad Baig shared his thoughts after his team narrowly lost to Australia by one wicket in a thrilling encounter at the 2024 U19 World Cup.

Baig acknowledged that Pakistan fell short by 10 to 20 runs in defending the low 180-run target. Despite the disappointment, he commended the team for their efforts and fighting spirit in a closely contested match.

“It’s tough to accept defeat. We were lacking in runs, maybe 10 or 20 short. The team showed great effort and played well. The way Ali Raza bowled was outstanding. Everyone fought hard, but we needed a few more runs,” Saad Baig expressed.

Reflecting on the tournament, Baig expressed pride in leading the team and praised their overall performance. He acknowledged Australia’s strong performance but emphasized the resilience and skill displayed by his team throughout the competition.

While Pakistan staged a comeback led by Ali Raza and Arafat Minhas during the chase, Australia managed to edge past them by the slimmest of margins.

The match showcased a gripping battle as both teams fought fiercely for victory. Despite Pakistan’s efforts, Australia emerged victorious and secured their place in the final against India.

Australia and India will clash in the final showdown on February 11 at Willowmoore Park, Benoni, South Africa.
