Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan Set to Lose Elite Category in PCB Central Contract

The Pakistan Cricket Team white-ball Captain Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan are likely to be dropped from PCB Central Contract Category (A). This is just after the green team was eliminated from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and WI.

According to sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will work on a new central contract for the national players in progress.

The PCB central contracts will be finalized by a new, smaller selection committee. The national cricket team’s salary, however, won’t change.

The Green Shirts found the competition tough as they were unable to go past the league stage.

Pakistan vs Bangladesh Test Series: Venue Options Revealed

The team lost a match against India, which had started out well for them, then suffered an unexpected loss against the United States.

Their campaign ended disappointingly as a result of this double loss, which kept them from moving on to the Super 8 round.

Additionally, according to sources, Shan Masood is probably going to continue leading the red-ball team in the forthcoming Test series against Bangladesh.

Masood, head coach Jason Gillespie, and the selection committee have reportedly started talking about Pakistan’s Test team against Bangladesh, according to an earlier report from Geo News.

Haris Rauf’s presence in the squad is not even being contemplated, while Babar, Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi might be rested for the Test matches against Bangladesh.

Salman Ali Agha, Abdullah Shafique, Saud Shakeel, and former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed are in the running for the final selection.

Naseem Shah, Shahnawaz Dahani, Mir Hamza, Khurram Shahzad, and Aamir Jamal are being considered for selection in the fast bowling department.

According to local media, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and Multan Stadium are under consideration to host this two-match test series.

The iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore is under construction because of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 hosted by Pakistan in February and March. Same as Karachi Stadium is also being prepared for the Champions Trophy 2025. So, there are high chance Pakistan vs Bangladesh will happen in Rawalpindi and Multan.
