Indian cricketer KL Rahul will miss the third Test match against England in Rajkot, starting Thursday, due to an ongoing injury. Rahul, who plays a crucial role in Cricket India vs England clashes, hasn’t fully recovered despite reaching 90% match fitness.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated that Rahul will continue his recovery at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to ensure he’s fit for the fourth and fifth Tests.

In Rahul’s absence, uncapped batter Devdutt Padikkal will step in as his replacement. Rahul’s injury, which initially surfaced during the first Test in Hyderabad, kept him out of the second Test, where India secured a convincing victory in Visakhapatnam.

India’s updated squad for the third Test includes Rohit Sharma as captain and Jasprit Bumrah as vice-captain, along with other promising players.

Notably, this development comes at a time when the Cricket India vs England series is already missing the presence of senior batter Virat Kohli. Kohli withdrew from the first two Tests due to personal reasons, a decision fully supported by the BCCI.

England currently leads the series 1-0 after winning the first Test in Hyderabad. However, India bounced back strongly in Visakhapatnam, leveling the series at 1-1 with a commanding victory.

The upcoming third Test in Rajkot is expected to be another intense encounter, followed by matches in Ranchi and Dharamsala.
