ENG vs USA: England Qualifies for Semi-Finals After Crushing USA by 10 Wickets

In match 49 of ICC World Cup 2024 between ENG vs USA, England dominated over the United States by 10 wickets. The USA was defeated by the defending Champions in the Super 8 stages of World Cup 2024. England also became the first team to get a spot in the semi-final of the World Cup.

Jos Buttler and Phil Salt the opening pair from England chased down the target of 116 runs in just 9.4 overs without getting a single wicket to USA bowlers.

Captain Jos Buttler played an innings of 83 runs in just 38 deliveries by hitting six fours and seven sixes, and there were five sixes hit by Buttler in a row to Harmeet Singh in the 9th over.

Although they were the last team to qualify for the Super 8, England advanced to the tournament’s semifinals before any other team.

English bowlers overpowered their opponents earlier in the first innings, sending the whole USA squad back to the pavilion for just 115 runs in 18.5 overs.

Chris Jordan became just the second bowler in T20 World Cup 2024 history to take a hat-trick, following Australia’s Pat Cummins, with four wickets in the 19th over, including a spectacular hat-trick.

From the beginning, English bowlers were all over the USA hitters, taking wickets at regular intervals.

Aaron Jones, the batting side’s skipper, could only muster 10 runs off of 16 balls; the only other players to get some significant runs were Nitish Kumar (30 off 24), Corey Anderson (29 off 28), and Harmeet Singh (21 off 17).

Jordan claimed four wickets, Sam Curran and Adil Rashid each two, and Liam Livingstone and Reece Topley one apiece.

Jos Buttler chose to bowl first after winning the toss earlier today. Chris Jordan took the place of speedy Mark Wood in England’s starting lineup. In the meantime, the USA is fielding the same team that faced the West Indies and lost.
