Pak vs Nep: Pakistan Secures Historic 238-Run Victory Against Nepal in Asia Cup 2023 Opening.
The 2023 Asia Cup is set to commence on August 30th at Pakistan’s National Stadium in Multan. The inaugural match of the tournament will witness Nepal facing off against the Pakistan Team.
Having won the toss, the Pakistan team opted to bat first. The opening pair comprised Fakhar and Imam for Pakistan. Unfortunately, this partnership couldn’t provide the desired early advantage for Pakistan. Imam’s innings was short due to a run-out, while Fakhar managed to strike three boundaries before departing back to the pavilion.
Following the dismissals of Fakhar and Imam, the team’s captain initiated the task of constructing a partnership alongside Rizwan, the wicketkeeper. Regrettably, Rizwan’s innings mirrored Imam’s fate as he was also run out, falling just short of achieving a half-century. Rizwan made 44 runs.
Salman Ali Agha’s performance left room for improvement, but the Team Captain, Babar Azam, partnered exceptionally well with Ifthikhar Ahmed, producing one of the most outstanding innings of Babar Azam’s career. Together, they steered Pakistan’s total beyond the 300-run mark, forging an impressive partnership of 214 runs. This collaboration ranks as the fifth-largest in Pakistan’s ODI history. Babar Azam’s contribution stood out, accumulating a remarkable 151 runs for the team, including a century and a half-century. His stature as the No. 1 batsman in the ODI rankings is sure again. and he added another century to his name in the match against Nepal, marking his 19th century in just 100 matches.

On the other hand, the formidable presence of Ifthikhar Ahmed added to Pakistan’s success story. He showcased his brilliance by registering his maiden century, finishing with an unbeaten 109 runs.
So, Pakistan Gave a total of 342 runs to win. It seems like a big total for the Nepal team in their 1st match of the Asia Cup.

The Nepal Team elected to send their batsmen to the crease for the opening. However, their opening batsman faced an early dismissal at the hands of the Pakistan Bowling attack. The Bowling lineup of the Pakistani team has strength, with Shaheen Shah Afridi claiming 2 wickets and Naseem Shah securing 1. Nepal found themselves in a precarious situation as they lost their first 3 wickets with the scoreboard reading a mere 14 runs.
Pakistan’s pacers and spinners began a relentless dismantling of the Nepal batsmen, one after another. None of the Nepal batsmen managed to establish a substantial innings against the formidable Pakistan bowling lineup. Once again, Pakistan showcased its prowess to the world by bundling out the entire Nepal team for a mere 104 runs.
The standout performance came from Shahdab Khan, who demonstrated his excellence as the best bowler for the Pakistan team across all formats, claiming an impressive 4 wickets. Furthermore, Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi joined forces with 2 wickets each. While Naseem Shah and Nawaz contributed with 1 wicket apiece to complete Nepal’s downfall.
