Cricket Australia announced that the upcoming Test match in Perth between Pakistan and Australia will be called “The West Test.” This game will bring a fresh in-stadium experience for fans, inspired by the Western Australian Cricket Association.
“The West Test Hill” has three tiers and can accommodate up to 500 patrons at a time. It will feature a family area with games for kids and shaded seating for fans to relax and enjoy the first Test match of the summer.
Notably, the name “The West Test” will also be used for the CommBank Women’s International Series Test match between Australia and South Africa, creating a connection between women’s and men’s cricket and Test matches at the state’s two venues.
Joel Morrison, Cricket Australia’s General Manager of Events and Operations, highlighted that international cricket in Perth has always been a significant event during the Australian summer. It is expected to enhance the fan experience with support from NRMA Insurance.
He also mentioned that the historic rivalry between Australia and Pakistan has gained new life since Australia’s tour to Pakistan last year. Launching men’s international cricket with “The West Test” in Perth, one of the world’s great cities, is seen as a fitting start to the summer.
Christina Matthews, CEO of WA Cricket, expressed that is something that Western Australians can take pride in. It will offer unique Women’s and Men’s Test matches and showcase their excellent stadiums to the world. “The Hill” transforms the Men’s Test experience, letting WA cricket fans enjoy the game at Perth Stadium.
Matthews aims to develop “The West Test” with Cricket Australia and partners ahead of the series against India and England.
