PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi Confirms to Senior Players: ‘Merit Above Everyone’

Mohsin Naqvi, the new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), recently met with Pakistani cricketers during the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9 in Islamabad. He talked to the players about the importance of choosing team members based on merit.

Naqvi assured the players that selection for the team would be solely based on merit, not personal preferences.

He emphasized that merit would always come first, and if anyone tried to go against it, the entire selection committee would face consequences.

He also mentioned that every deserving player would get a fair chance to play. Naqvi stated that star players should be respected, and if they perform well, they will be selected for the team. He made it clear that players should never have to sacrifice their positions.

There was a petition filed against Mohsin Naqvi appointment as PCB chairman, which was brought to the Islamabad High Court. The case was heard, and a verdict was reserved.

The petitioner argued that according to the constitution, a caretaker like Naqvi shouldn’t have the authority to appoint the PCB chairman.
