After Rohit Sharma and Virat Kholi, India’s senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja retirement is confirmed. These three senior players have announced retirement from T20 cricket after winning the title of ICC Cricket World Cup 2024 against South Africa in Barbados
Ravindra Jadeja retirement news made Indian fans sad, as their star is saying goodbye to cricket. Jadeja has played 74 T20Is for the India Cricket team and obliviously a T20 World Cup.
“With a heart full of gratitude, I bid farewell to T20 internationals,” Jadeja wrote a day after India lifted their second T20 World Cup. “Like a steadfast horse galloping with pride, I’ve always given my best for my country and will continue to do so in other formats.
IND vs SA: Virat Kohli Retirement from T20I After 2024 World Cup Victory
“Winning the T20 World Cup was a dream come true, a pinnacle of my T20 international career. Thank you for the memories, the cheers, and the unwavering support.”
Three of the most prominent and senior players in India announced their retirements in less than a day, which could make it challenging for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to find a replacement because all three were regarded as all-time greats in their respective roles and positions.
Jadeja took 54 wickets and scored 515 runs in 74 T20Is.
Rohit Sharma Retirement from T20 Cricket Following Virat Kohli’s Announcement
Kohli immediately declared his retirement during a post-match ceremony following India’s victory in the T20 World Cup, stating that it was time for the next generation to step up. However, at a news conference held after the game, Rohit Sharma stated that he is also giving up the shorter format.
The news that Rohit and Kohli will be leaving the T20I format was not totally shocking. After India’s 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final loss, neither player has played in any Twenty20 Internationals. They didn’t start playing T20Is again until January of this year, with their eyes set on the 2024 T20 World Cup.
After 125 T20I matches, Kohli finished as the second-highest run-scorer for India with 4,188 runs at a 48.69 average and a 137.04 strike rate.
