The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced Pakistan Cricket Babar Azam for the Captain of white-ball formats on Sunday. He will also lead the team in the upcoming series and T20 World Cup 2024.
Pride of Pakistan Cricket Babar Azam will lead the side in One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and also in T20 cricket. Shaheen was the captain of the Pakistan T20 team and his captaincy tenure remained for just one series. Shan Masood will remain the skipper for the red ball format.

Following unanimous recommendation from the PCB’s selection committee, Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi has appointed Babar Azam as white-ball (ODI and T20I) captain of the Pakistan men’s cricket team.
Babar Azam met with Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, where they discussed the future plan for T20 cricket and for the upcoming tournaments after Babar was rewarded as skipper of the Pakistan team.
Babar Azam was removed from the captaincy spot after pakistan loss in the ICC World Cup 2023 in India. Shaheen Shah Afridi became the skipper of the T20 team and Shan Masood became the captain of Test cricket.
Shaheen Led the Pakistan Team in only one series against New Zealand in which the green side lost y 4-1. After the series fans or panel were not impressed or willing to keep Shahen as captain.
Shaheen After this also failed to show his captaincy skill in Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 9 in which Qalanadars remained on the last of the points table with only one victory out of 10 games.
However, In this, Babar put forward some conditions before accepting the captaincy like complete involvement in selectting the team.
