In the most awaited game of ICC World Cup 2024 between SA vs WI at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua. The Proteas defeat the host nation by three wickets (DLS Method) in the T20 World Cup Super 8 stages.
After the SA vs WI, south Africa became the second team to qualify for the semifinals of the T20 World Cup after England from their group.
Rain delayed the play, so the Proteas had to chase a rescheduled goal of 123 runs in 17 overs. With seven wickets lost, they finished in 16.1 overs.
To get his team beyond the finish line, Marco Jansen produced an important undefeated cameo of 21 runs in 14 balls. When his team needed five runs to win, he hit a six off the first ball of the last over. Heinrich Klaasen (22 off 10) and Tristan Stubbs (29 off 27) both made significant efforts.
South Africa was down 77-3 at one stage, but the Windies rallied strongly, taking wickets to tie the score. However, the late strikes weren’t enough to keep the co-hosts in the running. Roston Chase stood out the most.

South Africa has already won seven straight games during the current round, and they are making their first appearance in the T20 World Cup semifinals since 2014.
In a pivotal encounter of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8, South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first, restricting the West Indies to 135-8 in 20 overs.
However, rain stopped play when South Africa was 15-2 in the 17th over, reducing the goal to 123 in 17 overs.
The Windies batsmen were kept in check by South African spinners Aiden Markram, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Keshav Maharaj, who combined to take five wickets and give up only 79 runs in 12 overs at an economy rate of 6.58.

The best bowler was Shamsi, who finished with figures of 3-27 in four overs.
“I am sweating, and I was not even out there. Quite nervy out there but that has been the theme this World Cup. We have been finding ways to win and tonight was another one of those,” Shamsi said after bagging the Player of the Match award.

“The people out there, our supporters, would probably like bigger wins. But things like this, it keeps us in check. We have been able to overcome such [pressure] moments and that keeps us in good stead,” he added.
Chase led the Windies in scoring with 52 runs in 42 balls, however, he was dropped on 11 and 14.
