The Asian Team showed up in ICC World Cup 2023 Ban vs Sri in match No. 38 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. The Bengal Tigers send Sri Lanka back and get their 2nd victory.

Bangladesh successfully chased the target in 41.1 overs, mainly due to their efforts.
The presence of dew on the ground made it difficult for Sri Lanka to defend their target. It affected their ability to take wickets effectively.
In the 32nd over, Angelo Mathews dismissed Shakib after he had scored 82 runs. Mathews celebrated by mimicking checking a watch, referring to an incident from earlier in the game.
Shakib’s dismissal led to a series of wickets falling for Bangladesh. It briefly seemed like Sri Lanka might stage a comeback, but Towhid Hridoy secured the win for Bangladesh.
This victory was significant as it marked Bangladesh’s first-ever World Cup win over Sri Lanka after three previous defeats.
When Sri Lanka batted first, they faced an early setback when Kusal Parera was dismissed in the first over. This left Sri Lanka at 5-1. Captain Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka stabilized the innings, forming a 61-run partnership.
Mendis scored 19 runs before losing his wicket, and Nissanka fell just short of a half-century, scoring 41 runs before being dismissed by Tanzim Hasan Sakib. With the team at 72-3 in 12.4 overs, Sri Lanka faced a challenging phase until another 63-run partnership offered some relief.
In an unusual incident, former Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews, while coming in to bat, faced a delay when the strap of his helmet broke. He requested a new helmet, and during this wait, Shakib appealed to the umpires, resulting in Mathews being ruled “timed out.” This was the first time in cricket history that a batter was dismissed in this manner.
Despite this setback, Charith Asalanka displayed remarkable resilience, scoring a century with 108 runs off 105 balls, including 11 boundaries, six fours, and five sixes. Dhananjaya de Silva contributed 34 runs, and Maheesh Theekshana added 21 runs to help Sri Lanka reach a total of 279 runs.
