Canada World Cup Team first Victory against Ireland by 12 runs

The Canada World Cup team defeated Ireland by 12 runs in their second game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2024 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Friday.

Neither team had a great start to the innings as the Irish Skipper went back to the pavilion with 9 runs, the Ireland batting unit started losing wickets early as they were on 59 runs with 6 wickets loss. All of their batters namely Andrew Balbirnie, Lorcan Tucker, Harry Tecot, and others walked back to the pavilion without scoring big runs.

George Dockrell scored 29 runs from 22 balls and Mark Adair scored 34 runs from 24 balls for Ireland, but their efforts were not enough to win the game.

For Canada, Jeremy Gordon and Dillon Heyliger each took two wickets, while Junaid Siddiqui and captain Saad bin Zafar each took one wicket.
In the first innings, Canada set a target of 138 runs. They had a bad start as the Irish bowlers did well, removing the top batters in the first nine overs for just 53 runs. It looked like it would be a low-scoring game, but Nicholas Kirton and Shreyas Movva helped Canada recover.

Kirton and Movva had a 75-run partnership that helped Canada reach a good total. Kirton played well but got out for 49 runs, just missing his half-century. Movva stayed until the end and Canada finished with 137 runs for 7 wickets.
For Ireland, Craig Young and Barry McCarthy each took two wickets, while Gareth Delany and Mark Adair each took one.
