Captain Jos Buttler played an innings of 83 runs in just 38 deliveries by hitting six fours and seven sixes, and there were five sixes hit by Buttler in a row to Harmeet Singh in the 9th over.
Although they were the last team to qualify for the Super 8, England advanced to the tournament’s semifinals before any other team.

English bowlers overpowered their opponents earlier in the first innings, sending the whole USA squad back to the pavilion for just 115 runs in 18.5 overs.
Chris Jordan became just the second bowler in T20 World Cup 2024 history to take a hat-trick, following Australia’s Pat Cummins, with four wickets in the 19th over, including a spectacular hat-trick.
From the beginning, English bowlers were all over the USA hitters, taking wickets at regular intervals.
Aaron Jones, the batting side’s skipper, could only muster 10 runs off of 16 balls; the only other players to get some significant runs were Nitish Kumar (30 off 24), Corey Anderson (29 off 28), and Harmeet Singh (21 off 17).
