Islamabad United made significant picks in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine draft by selecting pacers Hunain Shah and Ubaid Shah, completing the trio of Shah brothers in their squad.
Ahead of the draft, the two-time champions traded Naseem Shah from Quetta Gladiators to reinforce their bowling lineup.
Hunain, aged 20, has been actively involved in domestic cricket for the past couple of years, while Ubaid has showcased exceptional talent in junior-level cricket, particularly shining in the ongoing U19 Asia Cup.
This marks the first instance of three brothers being part of the same PSL side. It’ll be intriguing to witness whether they get the chance to play together or not.
The Islamabad United squad for PSL 9 includes a mix of experienced players and fresh talent, boasting names like Jordan Cox, Shadab Khan, Tymal Mills, and more.
Among them, Naseem Shah is currently undergoing the final stages of his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.
Naseem suffered an injury during the Asia Cup in September, leading to surgery in the United Kingdom. After a two-month rehabilitation period in the UK, supported by the PCB, he’s now continuing his recovery at the NCA.
Under the supervision of a strength and conditioning coach, a physiotherapist, and a doctor, he’s gradually resuming gym exercises and partial bowling practice.
