Pak vs Nz: Pakistan’s Path to Semifinals Stays Alive with Victory

During the Pak vs NZ match, rain interrupted when Pakistan was at 200-1 in 25.3 overs, with Fakhar Zaman scoring 126*, and skipper Babar Azam at 66*. Thanks to Fakhar’s fantastic performance, Pakistan was 21 runs ahead according to the DLS score and won.

Azam and Fakhar’s partnership of 194 runs secured a crucial victory. They now gear up to face England at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on November 11. Fakhar also achieved the fastest century (63 balls) for Pakistan in a World Cup match, surpassing Imran Nazir’s record.

Fakhar hit 11 sixes, making him the fourth player in World Cup history to score ten or more sixes. New Zealand posted 401-6 while batting first, with Rachin Ravindra (108), Kane Williamson (95), and Glenn Phillips (41) leading the way.

Williamson returned to the team after recovering from an injury, but he fell for 95 after a 180-run partnership with Ravindra. Pakistan’s fast bowlers, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf, had their expensive spells, with Shaheen conceding 90 runs in 10 overs and Haris giving away 85 runs in 10 overs.

New Zealand faces Sri Lanka on November 9 at the same venue. If they win, it could create challenges for Azam’s team.
