The upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup match between Pakistan vs New Zealand in Bengaluru on Saturday could be affected by rain. The weather forecast predicts a 50% chance of rain from 1pm to 5pm, while the game is scheduled to start at 10:30am local time. This means that the second half of the match might be influenced by rain.
However, the Chinnaswamy Stadium’s ground staff is confident in their ability to deal with rain. They have a “Sub Air System” installed, which not only prevents the outfield from getting waterlogged but also drains water 36 times faster than natural drainage.
This system automatically activates as soon as it starts raining, preventing water buildup on the outfield. It can quickly remove standing water, virtually eliminating the need for extended game delays or cancellations due to wet conditions. The system can remove over 10,000 liters of water per minute once it starts raining, thanks to remote sensors embedded in the field.
Even though New Zealand’s training session was affected by rain on Friday, the Chinnaswamy Stadium’s advanced drainage system gives hope that the ground will be ready for the match within 20 minutes after the rain stops.
