Pakistan World Cup Squad has not been announced yet for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, set to start on October 5 in India. There are changes expected in the squad after the Pakistan team was eliminated from the race of the Asia Cup final as Sri Lanka defeated them in a last-ball thriller by two wickets at R. Premedasa Stadium on Thursday.

As the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup approaches next month in India, Pakistan’s cricket fans are still eagerly awaiting the official squad announcement. This anticipation comes on the heels of Pakistan’s Asia Cup disappointment, where they were edged out by India and Sri Lanka in the Super 4 encounters.

One area of particular concern is Pakistan’s spin department, which failed to meet expectations during the Asia Cup despite favorable conditions. Fans have expressed doubts about the team’s spin capabilities and believe that a “missing x-factor” in the spin lineup could be resolved by including the mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed in the squad.

The team management has reached an agreement to keep changes to a minimum from the recently concluded Asia Cup squad. Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq and skipper Babar Azam met a day earlier and are scheduled to hold a crucial meeting with the Chairman of the PCB management committee Zaka Ashraf, soon. The ultimate decision regarding the Pakistan World Cup Squad will be contingent upon Zaka Ashraf’s approval.

The official announcement of the squad is anticipated to occur in the coming week on Wednesday or Thursday. The selection committee has also taken into consideration the fitness status of several players who have been nursing injuries.

However, it’s worth noting that Abrar Ahmed was absent from the Karachi Whites team for their recent Quaid-e-Azam Trophy fixture at Pindi Cricket Stadium. This has led to speculation among netizens that his absence might be a hint that he could be selected for the World Cup squad.

As Pakistan’s cricket team prepares for the ICC World Cup 2023, the Green Shirts fans remain hopeful that the team will find its winning form and bring another World Cup trophy home and joy to their supporters.
