This victory marks the third win for Gladiators in PSL 9, making them one of the two teams with three victories alongside Multan Sultans.
At the beginning of their chase, Jason Roy’s impressive performance with 37 runs off 18 balls set a strong foundation. However, the team faced early setbacks with Saud Shakeel and Khawaja Nafay departing early.
Despite these setbacks, Captain Rossouw showcased resilience, leading the team to victory with steady innings. Sherfane Rutherford also contributed significantly with 29 runs, but the Gladiators lost wickets at crucial moments.
The team managed to score 139/7 in 18.2 overs, with Mohammad Amir’s unbeaten 11 runs providing the final push.
For United, Naseem Shah and Shadab Khan took two wickets each, while Hunain and Rumman Raees claimed one wicket each.
Earlier, Islamabad United struggled with their batting, scoring 138/9 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first.
Their innings started strong with Alex Hales hitting two consecutive sixes but was soon dismissed by Akeal Hosein. Salman Ali Agha and Colin Munro stabilized the innings with a 40-run partnership before Munro’s dismissal triggered a collapse.
Agha emerged as the top-scorer with 33 runs, while Imad Wasim and Jordan Cox attempted to build a partnership.
However, Gladiators’ bowlers, particularly Abrar Ahmed and Mohammad Wasim Jr, took crucial wickets to restrict United’s total. Hosein also contributed with two wickets in the match.
