PSL News: Azhar Mahmood Pushes for Coach and Captain Mic Access

From the latest PSL News, Islamabad United’s bowling coach, Azhar Mahmood, suggests that coaches and captains should wear microphones during Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches.

Mahmood shared this PSL news idea after Islamabad’s loss to Lahore Qalandars in PSL 9, where he noticed crucial mistakes on the field.

He mentioned that allowing communication between the coach and captain through mic’d-up systems could improve strategy. Mahmood highlighted that since commentators talk to players during matches, coaches should have a similar opportunity.

Mahmood also emphasized not underestimating Lahore Qalandars, despite their previous struggles. He acknowledged their past successes in the league and admitted Islamabad’s own errors contributed to the defeat.

Lahore Qalandars secured their first victory in PSL 9 by defeating Islamabad United at Pindi Cricket Stadium. They posted a total of 162 runs, led by Rassie van der Dussen’s half-century. The Shaheen Shah Afridi-led bowling attack restricted Islamabad to 145 runs, sealing the win by 17 runs.
