Wahab Riaz Drops Major News on Naseem Shah Ahead of PSL 9

Chief selector Wahab Riaz revealed significant updates about pacer Naseem Shah PSL 9 approaches.

Riaz, recently appointed as the chief selector, addressed the media at a local school, confirming Naseem’s expected fitness for the PSL 9 kick-off.

Naseem Shah will be fully fit for the PSL,” Riaz confirmed. “I’ve met with Naseem, and his rehab progress is promising.”

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also shared a key update on Naseem’s rehabilitation.

“Naseem Shah has begun the final phase of his rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore,” stated the PCB in a press release.

Naseem sustained an injury during the Asia Cup in September, underwent surgery in the UK, and stayed for two months for rehabilitation. Currently, he’s engaging in light gym work and partial bowling practice at the NCA.

Riaz also discussed Test captain Shan Masood, noting his limited chances to showcase his abilities.

“Shan Masood, despite fewer opportunities earlier, is a stellar performer in domestic cricket,” he mentioned.

With plans for the T20I series against New Zealand in January, Riaz aims to announce the squad by December 25, inviting standout performers from the ongoing National T20 Cup to the camp.

“We’re looking to reveal the squad for the T20I series against New Zealand soon,” Riaz mentioned. “Top performers from the National T20 Cup will join our camp.”

Lastly, Riaz congratulated the Pakistan women’s cricket team for their historic win against New Zealand, marking the first victory by an Asian women’s team on New Zealand soil.
