World Cup 2023 Group Stage: India stays undefeated, Dominates Netherlands

In the final match of the ICC World Cup 2023 Group Stage, India delivered a resounding performance, defeating the Netherlands by 160 runs at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.

This decisive victory capped off India’s flawless run in the group stage, setting the stage for a semi-final clash against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on November 15.

Despite facing an early setback by losing their first wicket at just five runs in the second over, the Netherlands managed to stage a commendable comeback, avoiding a collapse.

Max O’Dowd (30) and Colin Ackermann (35) provided stability but fell before the team reached 100 runs.

Capitalizing on their formidable total, Indian captain Rohit Sharma utilized eight bowlers, including Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, and himself.

Kohli made a notable contribution by taking a wicket in his second over, dismissing Dutch skipper Scott Edwards for 17 runs.

The Dutch side was eventually bowled out for 250 runs in pursuit of India’s imposing target of 411 runs.

In their batting innings, India showcased dominance, setting a commanding target of 411 runs. The opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided a strong start with a partnership of 100 runs in just 11.4 overs. Kohli, in pursuit of his 50th ODI century, achieved a half-century but was bowled by Roelof van der Merwe for 51.

Subsequently, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul took charge, forming an impressive 208-run partnership. Iyer remained unbeaten with 128 runs off 94 balls, while Rahul scored 102 off 64 before losing his wicket.

The day belonged to the Indian batsmen, showcasing their prowess and securing a formidable position as they head into the semi-finals.
