Despite the setback, Rohit and Jadeja showcased resilience, both notching up centuries to steer India to a commanding position at 326 for five by stumps.
The hosts found themselves in early trouble at 33-3, but a remarkable 204-run partnership between Rohit and Jadeja steadied the ship.
Jadeja’s unbeaten 110, his fourth Test century, and Rohit’s gritty 131 led India’s fightback. Rohit’s innings were particularly eventful, including surviving a blow to his helmet and a dropped catch, along with successfully overturning an LBW decision.
