South Africa vs England: SA Winning Streak Continues After Super 8 Clash Against ENG

The ICC World Cup 2024 is currently in the second stage showcasing Super 8 games. The South Africa vs England game was played at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia. South Africa maintained their winning streak by defeating england by 7 runs in a thrilling contest.

Following a 78-run stand between Harry Brook and Liam Livingstone, England recovered to resume the chase. Livingstone launched sporadic attacks as Brook faced up against the South African bowlers. Livingstone managed 17-ball 33 before being dismissed by Kagiso Rabada

Meanwhile, captain Aiden Markram’s outstanding catch allowed Brook to achieve his maiden T20 World Cup fifty, but he could not complete the chase. Making 37 balls into 53 runs. The reigning winners were held to 156/6.

For the Proteas, Rabada and Maharaj each claimed two wickets.

Earlier, Quinton de Kock gave South Africa a brilliant start when England put him in to bat first. With 22 balls, the wicketkeeper-batter hit the joint-fastest fifty in the ongoing tournament.

Reeza Hendricks, who scored 19 from 25 balls, was unable to capitalize on his sluggish start. Leg-spinner Adil Rashid removed him as the opening batter.

The spectacular catch made by England captain Jos Buttler caused De Kock to leave. He hit eight boundaries to help him score a 38-ball 65.

The game resumed with Buttler helping the defending champions once more, but this time it was a run out at the non-striker’s end to eliminate Heinrich Klassen (9 off 13 balls).

Rashid took out captain Aiden Markram in the interim (1 off 2 balls). Later on, David Miller seized the lead and scored an important forty-eight off just 28 balls.
