PAK vs IRE: Ireland Secures First-Ever T20 Victory Over Pakistan

The three matches T20I series between PAK vs IRE started on 10th May. Where both teams face each other in the first T20I in Dublin, Ireland. In this thrilling game of T20 Ireland defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets and registered their first-ever T20 win against the Pakistan team.

This was the first time both teams played the short format of cricket, and in this game, the host team emerged victorious and shocked everyone worldwide by defeating Pakistan.

However, Pakistan has a good start by posting a 183-run target and taking two wickets in the first five overs with the help of pacers Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi. But the partnership maintained by Andrew Balbirnie and Harry Tector was amazing on the day.

After a dismal beginning, the Irish batsmen stood up against Pakistan’s bowling attack and combined to create a strong 77-run partnership that turned the tide of the match in favor of the home team.

After making 36 runs, Tector left the field, but Balbirnie persisted in leading his team in scoring. The game-winning run came from George Dockrell, who gave Ireland’s innings the much-needed boost by scoring 24 runs off just 12 balls with four boundaries.

Abbas Afridi, Imad Wasim, and Naseem Shah each claimed one wicket, but Shaheen claimed two.

Shaheen’s dismissal of Balbirnie gave Pakistan a significant breakthrough, but the home team was easily defeated by Gareth Delany (10 on 6) and Curtis Campher (15 on 7).

On Batting first Pakistan scored 182 runs with four wickets remaining a brilliant innings played by Captain Babar Azam 57 runs on 43 balls while Saim Ayub made 45 runs on just 45 deliveries. The hitter Iftikhar showed some magic in the last overs and scored 37 runs on 15 balls.

The Men in Green lost Mohammad Rizwan (1) early in the innings. Babar and Saim combined for 85 runs to keep the innings stable.

Saim was caught by Campher off Delany’s bowling after hitting 45 runs from 29 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes.

Babar reached fifty for the 38th time in T20Is. He was caught by Mark Adair off Craig Young’s bowling, having scored 57 runs off 43 deliveries.

Pakistan battled for a while, losing four wickets for 31 runs, but Iftikhar covered the runs at the end.

Iftikhar made 37 runs on 15 balls, hitting three fours and three sixes while Shaheen Shah Afridi also remained unbeaten, scoring 13 runs on 7 balls, hitting two sixes, with a strike rate of 185.71.
