As cricket fans eagerly await the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), organizers are busy preparing for a grand ceremony to unveil the PSL Trophy, scheduled for Tuesday.
The ceremony marks the beginning of the highly-awaited PSL season, with plans underway for a lavish event. Potential venues for the trophy unveiling, including a golf course and an amusement park, are being considered, and a final decision is expected soon. Invitations will be extended to captains and franchise owners of all participating teams, ensuring a star-studded affair.
PSL 9 is slated to commence on February 17, with matches scheduled across Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi. The National Bank Stadium in Karachi has been selected as the venue for the final showdown on March 18.
Adding to the anticipation, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has installed a striking countdown clock outside its Lahore headquarters. Adorned with captivating photos of franchise captains, the clock serves as a visual reminder that PSL 9 is just around the corner, with the slogan “Khul k Khel” (Play Openly) capturing the spirit of the tournament.
The tradition of installing a countdown clock has become a cherished practice, signaling the start of the tournament. With PSL 9 set to kick off on February 17, 2024, excitement is building for what promises to be a thrilling spectacle.
The opening match will see Lahore Qalandars, two-time winners and defending champions, take on Islamabad United, champions in 2016 and 2018.
