This prestigious ICC Team of the Year recognizes 11 exceptional individuals who have showcased outstanding performances throughout 2023, excelling with the bat, ball, or through their all-round contributions.

However, the absence of any Pakistani cricketer stands out, as Indian players dominate the lineup.

The Indian representation includes Suryakumar Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and bowlers Ravi Bishnoi and Arshdeep Singh.

Jaiswal, who debuted in India last year, is selected as the opener alongside England’s Phil Salt. Jaiswal’s remarkable 2023 saw him amass 430 runs in 14 innings with a strike rate of 159. On the other hand, Salt scored 331 runs in a five-match T20I series, outclassing other top-scoring batters by 170 runs.

Nicholas Pooran from West Indies claimed the No. 3 spot, while Suryakumar Yadav, who led the Indian team in the absence of Rohit Sharma, achieved two centuries in T20Is.

Mark Chapman from New Zealand secured the No. 5 position, followed by Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza at No. 6.

The team includes Uganda’s Alpesh Ramjani at 7 and Ireland’s Mark Adair at 8. Ramjani topped the T20I wickets chart for the year with 55 wickets at an impressive economy of 4.77. Adair, the Irish bowling all-rounder, took 26 wickets at an economy of 7.42.

The bowling attack features India’s Ravi Bishnoi, Zimbabwe’s Richard Ngarava, and India’s Arshdeep Singh. Arshdeep claimed 26 wickets in 21 appearances, while Bishnoi secured 18 wickets in 44 overs during the year, earning the top spot on the ICC T20 Bowling Rankings.

Ngarava ended the year with 26 wickets in 15 matches, conceding only 5.63 runs per over and taking a wicket every 12.1 deliveries.
