In an intense match featuring a double super-over between India vs Afghanistan, the Blue Team emerged victorious over Afghanistan at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium, securing a 3-0 series win.
Afghanistan matched India’s 212-run total, leading to the first super-over. However, another super-over was needed as both teams scored 16 runs each in the initial one. In the second super-over, Afghanistan managed only one run in response to India’s 12-run target.
In the first super-over, Afghanistan’s Gulbadin Naib and Rahmanullah Gurbaz faced India’s bowling. Naib was run out attempting a double, courtesy of a quick throw from Virat Kohli.
Mohammad Nabi and Gurbaz contributed with singles and a boundary. Despite the controversy on the final ball, Afghanistan concluded with 16 runs.
India’s turn in the first super-over saw Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring a single each before Rohit hit consecutive sixes. Despite falling short by two runs on the last ball, a second super-over was activated.
In the second super-over, between India vs Afghanistan, Rohit Sharma partnered with Rinku Singh. Rohit’s six and a boundary set a 12-run target for Afghanistan. Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi defended it, dismissing Nabi and Gurbaz on successive deliveries, securing a dramatic win for India.
Earlier, despite a shaky start, with four wickets down for 22 runs in 4.3 overs, India, choosing to bat first, rallied thanks to Rohit Sharma’s record-extending fifty T20I hundred and an unbeaten 190-run partnership with Rinku Singh, reaching a total of 212/4 in 50 overs.
