PSL Season 9: Islamabad United Defeats Quetta, One Step Closer to PSL Final

In the PSL Season 9 Eliminator 1 match, Islamabad United defeated Quetta Gladiators by 39 runs in National Bank Stadium Karachi.

This was the last game of Quetta Gladiators for PSL Season 9, Islamabad united will play the 2nd Elimination game today with Peshawar Zalmi at the same venue.

The Quetta Gladiators team faced difficulty in chasing down the target of 175 runs and fell short by 39 runs. Islamabad bowlers show exceptional bowling and change the game direction in the starting overs.

Quetta Gladiators were five wickets down on just 16 runs. After these 5 overs, Quetta pushed themselves again but it was too late.

Quetta’s top five batters failed to perform in the game. Saud Shakeel, Jason Roy, rellie Rossouw, Khawaja Nafay, and Laurie Evans all these big names were nill at the day.

 

Dwonorder batters like Akeal Hosein and Omair bin Yousuf helped Quetta to cross 100 runs. Omair played a good innings of 52 runs.

Imad Wasim picked 3 wickets, and 2 wickets for Naseem Shah, while other bowlers like Obey McCoy, Huanin Shah, and Faheem Ashraf picked one wicket.

Islamabad set a target of 174 runs in 20 overs. Martin Guptill who remains the top scorer in PSL twice played an innings of 56 runs. Salman Ali Agha made 31 runs.

Azam Khan played some shorts but got bowled out by Akeal Hosein.

From the Quetta Bowling department, Mohammad Amir took 2 wickets and did a great spell with some lengthy deliveries. He was praised by Waqar Younus and took 2 wickets in 4 overs with 20 runs.
