Afghanistan National Team key spinner Rashid Khan made a comeback to the Afghan squad on Wednesday for the coming T20I series against Ireland and for T20 World Cup Preparation.
Rashid Khan was out from the squad after the ICC World Cup 2023 in India and the spinner faced an injury due to which Rashid can’t participate in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Rashid Khan in a video interview with Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) said:
The plan is to represent the country in the upcoming series and the training has been underway thankfully it went well and I hope that the following few days will also be well so that I can wear the national jersey again and continue to do well for my country.
Rashid also said the injury period was not easy for him. But he is happy that cricket fans around the globe support him in this phase. Rashid added:
“The last three months were difficult because I had surgery. I had been suffering from a back injury for the last seven to eight months and the doctor had asked me to have surgery even before the World Cup. Still, I decided to play the World Cup and have surgery afterward because it was such an important event for us but Alhamdulillah I am back on the field and feeling well now. Now my focus is on returning to the field and bringing joy and success to the nation.”
The first match of the series between Afghanistan vs Ireland will be played tomorrow.
Furthermore, the 2nd and 3rd T20I will be played on March 17th and 18th. The venue decided for this game will be in Sharjah.
