Saeed Ajmal Set to Guide Pakistan’s Spinners as Coach

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is getting ready to reveal the senior team management for the Pakistan men’s team.

Sources indicate that former spinner Saeed Ajmal is expected to step into the spin bowling coach role, teaming up with Umar Gul, who will be in charge as the fast bowling coach.

At the same time, Shahid Aslam is set to return as the assistant coach, while Abdul Majeed is likely to reprise his role as the fielding coach. These announcements are expected to come out soon.

Recently, PCB announced Mohammad Hafeez as the Team Director, who will also double as the head coach and batting coach.

Naveed Akram Cheema will manage the Pakistan team for the upcoming Test tour of Australia.

The formal announcement of the squad and coaching staff awaits approval from Zaka Ashraf, the head of the PCB management committee, who is currently in India. The squad for the Australia tour will consist of seventeen to eighteen players.

Pakistan’s training camp is scheduled in Rawalpindi from November 22 to 29, with the team set to depart from Islamabad for Australia on November 30.

Newly-appointed Test captain Shan Masood, along with Team Director Mohammad Hafeez and Chief Selector Wahab Riaz, has identified potential players for the training camp. Among those selected are standout performers like Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, and top wicket-taker Khurram Shehzad from the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

The Australia tour itinerary includes a four-day match against PM’s XI vs Pakistan from December 6 to 9 at Manuka Oval, Canberra.

The West Test Schedule:

1. 1st Test – Australia vs Pakistan – December 14-18: Perth Stadium
2. 2nd Test – Australia vs Pakistan – December 26-30: Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG)
3. 3rd Test – Australia vs Pakistan – January 3-7: Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG)
