Shan Masood Keeps National Team Door Open for Ahmed Shehzad

Pakistan’s Test captain, Shan Masood, made it clear that the national team is open to Ahmed Shehzad, the experienced batter who hasn’t played for Pakistan since 2019.

After a long absence and consistent performance in domestic cricket, Shehzad’s return to the national team seems probable.

Shan Masood emphasized that anyone excelling in domestic cricket will be considered for the national side. He mentioned having a certain style of play in mind, and as long as players fit that, they’ll be considered.

Team Director Mohammad Hafeez also echoed similar sentiments, stating that good domestic performances will be taken into account for national squad selection.

Notably, Ahmed Shehzad is the leading run-scorer in the ongoing National T20 Cup. He’s been instrumental, scoring 213 runs in just three innings with an impressive average, aiding Lahore Whites in reaching the Super Eight round.

Expressing his desire to represent Pakistan, Shehzad highlighted the honor it holds for him. He stated that playing for Pakistan surpasses all money and fame, emphasizing his commitment to representing the country.

Shehzad expressed reliance on his performances, aiming to let his cricket do the talking. Despite the challenges of consistency and inevitable failures, he remains steadfast in his belief that his efforts will be rewarded.

Ahmed Shehzad’s determination and consistent performance in various formats post-injury are indicators of his readiness to make a strong comeback to the national team.
