In an interview with a local cricket website, Harbhajan Singh expressed his belief that the decision to remove Babar Azam from captaincy came at an inopportune moment.

He attributed this decision to Pakistan’s underwhelming performance in the ICC World Cup, highlighting cricket’s significant impact on both India and Pakistan. Singh suggested that such decisions, made in reaction to poor performance, can sometimes hinder progress rather than propel it forward.

Singh also praised Azam’s talent but emphasized the importance of acknowledging other players in the Pakistan team.

He noted a common tendency in India and Pakistan to excessively praise individual players while overlooking the team’s collective efforts. Singh stressed the need to recognize all players’ contributions, highlighting that team success hinges on collective performance rather than individual brilliance.

Regarding the captaincy changes, it’s noteworthy that Shan Masood replaced Azam as captain in Test cricket, while Shaheen Afridi now leads the T20 side.
