  8. Shaheen Afridi
  9. Mohammad Wasim Jnr
  10. Haris Rauf

In preparation for Wednesday’s third T20I against New Zealand, Pakistan has opted for significant alterations in its lineup. Leg-spinner Usama Mir and all-rounder Aamer Jamal have been omitted, alongside pacer Abbas Afridi, who is sidelined due to a low-grade abdominal wall muscle strain. The exclusion of Afridi, a key wicket-taker with five dismissals, is a notable setback for the team, given his strong performances alongside Haris Rauf, even in less favorable outcomes.

To fill these voids, Pakistan introduces Mohammad Wasim Jr, Mohammad Nawaz, and Zaman Khan as replacements for the trio as mentioned earlier.

In the previous encounter, New Zealand’s pace bowler Adam Milne showcased his prowess by claiming four wickets, propelling New Zealand to a 21-run victory and securing a 2-0 series lead over Pakistan.

While Pakistan initially displayed promise in their run chase, with Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman scoring half-centuries, they eventually fell short, dismissed for 173 in response to New Zealand’s 194-8.

However, New Zealand’s triumph came at a cost, with their captain Kane Williamson retiring hurt due to a hamstring injury while batting. Coach Gary Stead confirmed that Williamson would not participate further in the series. With the upcoming Test against South Africa looming, Williamson will also miss the final two T20 matches, ensuring his fitness for the forthcoming Tests.

As a replacement in the batting lineup, Tim Seifert is expected to step in for Williamson, with Stead hinting at Seifert taking over wicketkeeping duties from Devon Conway at some point in the series.

With these changes in the Pakistan squad, the team aims to rebound strongly in the third T20I and alter the course of the series in their favor.
