Eng vs Ind: Yashasvi Jaiswal Indian Batsman Break Virat Kohli's Record

The Emerging Test Cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal broke some records in the Eng vs Ind Test match. After making a debut in Test Cricket last Year July, the left-hander batsman made amazing progress in his career, he already has done 5 Test Centuries and 2 double centuries.

On Thursday, the 5th test game between Eng vs Ind Jaiswal also maintained his position as the leading run-scorer in the 5th match making 700 runs impact. By achieving this Jaiswal has broken the record of former captain Virat Kholi and achieved a new milestone of most runs in test cricket against the England team. The previous record was from Virat Kholi in the year 2016-2017 home series of 655 runs.

Jaiswal is the only India batter after Sunil Gavaskar to score more than 700 runs in a single test series. Sunil Gavaskar has achieved this milestone for the 2 times in his career, both times against West Indies, first scoring 774 runs in 1971/1972 and second time 732 runs in 1978/1979.

The Opener batsman Jaiswal has a golden opportunity to break another record. Jaiswal can break the record the Gavaskar because one inning is left in the series.

The duo from the Spinning department Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin took 9 wickets collectively and dismissed England for 218, Jaiswal played 58 balls 57 before being dismissed by Shoaib Bashir.

In doing so, Jaiswal also became the joint-third quickest opener to reach 1000 Test runs, achieving the milestone in 16 innings – one less than Indian captain Rohit Sharma took to reach the same landmark.

After the first day’s play in Dharamsala, Rohit (52*) remained on the field alongside Shubman Gill (26*) as India trailed by 83 runs in the first innings.
