PCB Announces Pakistan Tri-Series Featuring New Zealand and South Africa in 2025

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the Pakistan tri-series with New Zealand and South Africa on Friday. The series will be hosted by Pakistan in the upcoming year 2025.

The Series will start before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. So the series plays an important role in the preparation of the Champions Trophy 2025 hosted by Pakistan. The series will start in February month 2025

Chairman of PCB, Mohsin Naqvi, had a meeting with the Chairman of New Zealand (NZC) and the Chairman of South Africa (CSA), before the ICC meeting in Dubai on Friday. In this meeting, Chairman PCB confirmed and talked about the tri-series.

In 2004 Pakistan last time hosted a tri-nation series with Zimbabwe and South Africa. After that, no tri-series happens by the Pakistan Board.

 

Chairman Mohsin Naqvi added that this upcoming event will be a golden opportunity for the green team to make themselves ready for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

“The tri-series between Pakistan, South Africa, and New Zealand will be an exciting event and it is after a long time that Pakistan will host such a tournament. PCB Chairman said they are thankful to the Chairman of both nations New Zealand and South Africa for taking part in the Pakistan tri-nation series.

This deal was finalized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in December.

The event will mark the return of the ICC Champions Trophy after an eight-year gap since its last occurrence in 2017, which Pakistan won.

For the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, a total of eight teams will participate, following the One Day International (ODI) format. The qualification process involved the top seven teams from the ICC ODI World Cup group stage, along with the host nation, Pakistan, securing their positions for this upcoming tournament.
