The credit for today’s win goes to the formidable opening pair of Colin Munro and Alex Hales, who dismantled Karachi’s bowling attack. The duo’s partnership of 108 runs off 69 balls set the tone for Islamabad’s chase.
Hales led the charge with a quickfire 47 off 35 balls before departing, while Munro continued the onslaught with a blistering 82 off 47 deliveries, featuring four sixes and eight fours.
Despite Karachi’s efforts to stem the flow of runs, Islamabad chased down the target comfortably in the 19th over, with Agha Salman (25*) and Shadab Khan (10*) guiding them to victory.
For Karachi, Hasan Ali, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Mohammad Nawaz managed to take a wicket each, but it wasn’t enough to stop Islamabad’s charge.
Earlier in the match, Karachi Kings, batting first, posted a competitive total of 165/5, thanks to a resilient partnership between Kieron Pollard and Mohammad Irfan Khan. Pollard’s unbeaten 48 and Irfan’s 27 not out propelled Karachi Kings past the 160-run mark.
Despite a shaky start, Islamabad United’s clinical performance today marks a promising turn in their PSL campaign, while Karachi Kings will look to bounce back in their upcoming match against Quetta Gladiators on February 29 at the same venue.
