PSL 10 to be played in England, due to Champions Trophy in Pakistan

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is looking forward to hosting the PSL 10 playoffs at an overseas venue. England grounds are in strong consideration for PSL 10 playoffs, due to the Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan expected in February month. In England, venues are iconic stadiums such as Manchester, Birmingham, and The Oval in London.

It is expected that this relocation will benefit the PSL in several ways, particularly with England’s prominence in cricket and the presence of the main broadcaster of the competition in the nation.

The selection of neutral grounds in England is intended to draw a wider audience and increase the tournament’s international appeal, as the nation is home to a sizable diaspora of cricket enthusiasts, especially those from Pakistan and India.

At the PSL general council meeting, Australia was also discussed as a possible host country, but for the time being, England seems to be the main emphasis. On the other hand, more discussions are anticipated concerning the choice of neutral playoff venues.

The timeline for these deliberations suggests that the PSL Governing Council meeting, scheduled for the third week of May, will serve as a crucial platform for finalizing the tournament’s window and deciding on the neutral venues.

It must be noted the 10th edition of the PSL could take place in April-May next year.

The decision has been taken because the event will clash with the ICC Champions Trophy in the February-March window.

Sources claim that the PCB recommended the period between April 8 and May 20 to the PSL franchisees. It will, however, conflict with the Indian Premier League, which often occurs within the same time frame.

The window has been chosen following consideration of player availability and workload distribution.

The Pakistan Board will also provide rights to PSL franchises to select a marquee player for the next season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The marquee players will be selected in the upcoming months. Pakistan Board will also give some support to financial ways to sign marquee players.
