Batsman Virat Kholi can be dropped from India’s Squad for T20 World Cup 2024, as per reports. The World Cup is scheduled to take place in two nations USA and the West Indies.

Kholi was part of the Indian squad in the T20 World Cup 2022, where the Blue team faced a 10-wicket defeat from England in the semi-finals. After that Virat didn’t play any T20 games from the Indian side.

 

Additionally, Virat Kholi made a comeback to T20 cricket under the leadership of Rohit Sharma this year in a series against Afghanistan. But Virat only plays 2 games in it, and Rohit Sharma Play all 3 games.

The Attendance of Rohit Sharma in India’s Squad for T20 World Cup 2024 is confirmed, The Secretary of BCCI and ACC announced that Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian Squad. The presence of Kholi is not confirmed yet, Although his performance in the recent game against Afg was outstanding.

Virat Kholi was the player of the tournament back in the 2014 and 2016 T20 World Cup, Kholi’s participation in T20 Squad 2024 is not confirmed as the indian team selectors pannel Ajit Agarkar is in doubt that it will be hard for kholi to play shorter format.

The reports also tell it depends upon Virat Kholi performance in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Some other players like Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Riku Singh are also in the World Cup Selection race.

Additionally, concerns are raised about Kohli’s adaptability to the slow wickets in the West Indies. The selectors have reportedly been deliberating over this decision for some time, with no indication of a change in their plans.

Furthermore, questions are pointing on Kholi adaptability on the slow pitches in West Indies. This becomes more difficult for selectors to pick. But their is no confirm news released by the BCCI. From the reports:

“It is also believed that the slow wickets in the West Indies wouldn’t suit him. The selectors have been toying with the idea for some time now and there has been nothing to suggest about a change in plans.”
