Namibia Defeats Oman in Super Over at World Cup 2024

In the ICC World Cup 2024 fixture between Namibia vs Oman at the Kensington Oval Bridgetown, Nambia beat Oman in the thrilling game after super over.

Oman posted a total of 110 runs on the board and Nambia ended their innings on 109 runs with 6 wickets loss. That makes the match tie and takes it to super over.

Namibia was just two runs behind the victory on the last ball but David Wiese failed to manage. However, the wicketkeeper didn’t grab the ball cleanly either as Wiese and Malan Kruger ran across and completed the run.

Jan Frylinck scored 45 runs on 48 balls by hitting six fours and appeared as the highest scorer from the team.

Mehran Khan, who bowled the last over of the innings, had great figures of 3-7 in four overs for Oman.

In the super over, Namibia batted first and scored 21 runs, with Wiese hitting 13 runs in four balls. Wiese also bowled the super over, giving away just 10 runs and taking a wicket.

Earlier, Namibia won the toss and chose to bowl first. Oman was bowled out for 109 in 19.4 overs.

Left-arm pacer Ruben Trumpelmann started well for Namibia, taking two wickets on the first two balls of the innings, dismissing opener Kashyap Prajapati and captain Aqib Ilyas for no runs.

Oman struggled after this bad start and kept losing wickets.

Trumpelmann was the best bowler for Namibia with figures of 4-21 in four overs. Namibia’s captain Gerhard Erasmus also did well, with 2-20 in four overs, and David Wiese took three wickets.

Khalid Kail was Oman’s top scorer with 34 runs off 39 balls, including a four and a six.
