In the fourth match of the T20 World Cup 2024 between Sri Lanka vs South Africa at New York’s iconic Nassau County International Stadium on Monday. South Africa emerged victorious in this game by defeating Sik Lanka by 6 wickets.


The Sri Lanka team set a low total of 78 runs, which was chased down by South Africa in the 17th over. Quinton de Kock appears as the top run-maker from the side, he made 20 runs on 27 balls while Heinrich Klassen remained not out on 19 runs.

Sri Lanka’s Captain Wanindu Hasaranga got two early wickets for the team on just 22 runs while Nuwan Thushara and Dasun Shanaka both took one wicket.

The South Africa blowing unit was impressive as they took down the whole team on just 77 runs after they decided to bat first.

The formidable South African bowling arsenal caused Sri Lanka’s top order to collapse in a miserable batting display. Pathum Nissanka, who batted first for just three runs in the innings, was cheaply dismissed by Heinrich Klaasen off Ottneil Baartman Baartman.

Despite showing some resiliency by scoring 19 runs off of 30 balls, Anrich Nortje dismissed Kusal Mendis. Kamindu Mendis fared even worse, scoring just 11 runs.

Sadeera Samarawickrama and captain Wanindu Hasaranga both left the game without scoring. Before losing to Nortje, Charith Asalanka could only muster six runs, placing the team in a terrible situation.

With an undefeated sixteen that included two sixes, Angelo Mathews offered some optimism, but not enough to save the innings. Even Dasun Shanaka’s nine runs were insufficient.
