Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali is set to represent his country in the upcoming 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, slated for June.
Currently a key player for Karachi Kings in the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the 29-year-old is determined to secure a spot in the national squad through consistent performances and dedicated effort, aiming to catch the attention of the selectors.
Speaking to the media in Karachi, Hasan expressed his aspirations, stating, “My goal and focus are to earn a place in the national team for the World Cup. I am putting in the hard work and aiming to impress the selectors with my performances.”
He added, “I am hopeful of contributing to the team’s success in the World Cup through strong performances. My immediate focus is on the upcoming T20 series, where I intend to showcase improved performances.
Karachi Kings, Hasan’s franchise in PSL 9, has played five matches, securing two wins and facing three losses, currently occupying the fifth position in the points table.
Commenting on the team’s performance, Hasan remarked, “We have been playing good cricket in the league. Despite facing defeats in two challenging matches, we are determined to bounce back and bring joy to Karachi’s fans with victories.”
Notably, Hasan Ali achieved a significant milestone during the match against Islamabad United on February 28, becoming the second bowler to claim 100 wickets in the history of PSL.
The right-arm pacer reached the century mark by dismissing Islamabad United’s Alex Hales during the 15th PSL 9 encounter at the National Bank Arena in Karachi.
Wahab Riaz holds the distinction of being the first bowler to achieve 100 wickets in PSL history, leading the league’s all-time wicket-takers with 113 wickets. Following Wahab, Shaheen Afridi holds the third position with 98 wickets, while Shadab Khan is placed fourth with a total of 83 wickets to his credit.
